A talented and inspirational teacher is required to teach Mathematics from September 2022. Approximately 0.5 of a timetable is required.
The Mathematics department currently comprises of ten full-time and three part-time teachers. The department has been housed in modern centrally located, purpose-built facilities, comprising a suite of ten Mathematics classrooms, equipped with new whiteboards. Each teacher has a write-on device.
The Edexcel IGCE course is taught at Warwick School, with seven classes set by ability in each of the two Key Stage 4 year groups. 72% of boys achieved 7 to 9 grades with 50% at grade 8 or 9 level in our last 'normal' year. Approximately one third of the year group are given the opportunity to study Additional Mathematics.
At A level, we teach the OCR course and both Mathematics and Further Mathematics are very successful. On average, a third of single mathematics pupils achieve A-level Mathematics A* grade. Some 25 pupils take Further Mathematics in each year of the Sixth Form with many students achieving A*s in both. Annually our mathematicians win places at Oxbridge to study Mathematics, Economics and Engineering, with some studying for the STEP Mathematics examinations.
Recruiting and fostering new teachers to the profession is a central part of the ethos of the department and as the Midlands Hub for the National Mathematics and Physics SclTT, the team work closely with professional bodies and enjoy developing the next generation of teachers.
